Tragic Baltimore Block Party Shooting Leaves Two Dead and 28 Injured: Urgent Call to Address Gun Violence

On July 2, 2023, a tragic mass shooting occurred at a block party in Baltimore, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 28 others. The victims, an 18-year-old woman named Aaliyah Gonzales and a 20-year-old man named Kylis Fagbemi, were among those fatally shot. The injured individuals ranged in age from 13 to 32 years old, with 15 of them being younger than 18. According to Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley, all 30 victims suffered from gunshot wounds. As of the time of the shooting, nine of the injured individuals remained hospitalized in various conditions. Worley stated that there were at least two shooters involved, and possibly more, but the motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
